So grateful for stability

So my CK Journaler's Sidekick software spit out at me another random topic about marriage today. How old were you when you got married? I was 33 years old when David and I married...much older than I ever thought I'd be. In fact, when I was 25 I had made it my mission to be engaged before the end of the year/before I turned 26 and I actually accomplished just that with another man ironically named David (I'll refer to him as David H.). It was a reunion with my first love...did I realize at that young age what I was getting myself into? With him - no, he was a sober alcoholic and it would have been a nightmare had we actually followed through with the marriage.

With my actual husband David (David S.), we did talk quite a bit to prepare ourselves for the commitment of marriage - using books to assist us with the emotional/mental/spiritual side of things. My husband and I are so prepared for the responsibilities of a family whereas the other one, David H., was not. He was making minimum wage, and I really feel for how he was struggling financially.

We (my husband and I) have the means to live a luxurious lifestyle if we were the type. However, having each lived life at or below the poverty line as singles for many years - we are accustomed to being frugal. I am so thankful for all that I have, so grateful that life today is stable and sane. It was worth it to wait almost 10 years to get married.

When it is real it is worth the wait. Good for you on not rushing into anything and finding the perfect match. Now.. about this CK journaler. What is it? I have not seen it I don't think...
