Publication Tip #14: Consider Your Scrapbook Colleagues

I was going to title today's post Consider Your Competition yet I just couldn't do it and feel right about it. I would rather see everyone cheering each other on, being helpful and grateful for one another than to create an environment of losers and winners. With that said, it is helpful to take a look at what your colleagues are doing. How is their work similar to yours? How is their work different? What are they doing better? Where do they leave opportunities for you?

These questions are all inspired by Alyson Stanfield's Artbizcoach.com website. I was watching a marathon for America's Next Top Model over the weekend, and in one episode - Tara Banks tells a contestant who copies another contestant's poses to "{borrow} from the best and make it better."

If I were to answer the above questions some of my answers would be: My work is similar in the trends that I follow such as rubons, chipboard, etc. Other people take better photographs than I do. Opportunities I have include stength in teaching and creating hybrid and digital tutorials.
